Tombstone Tuesday - Barry

Robert & Mary Barry
From a quick look at the census records, Robert and Mary lived in Kingston, Kitsap County, Washington in 1900, 1910 and 1920. They were both born in Canada and were both English speaking. Robert was born in August 1834 and immigrated in 1857. Mary was born in May 1849. Her nationality is given as Indian in both the 1910 and 1920 census. She immigrated in about 1868. Robert and Mary naturalized in 1888.

They had a son, Robert J., who was born in December 1866, also in Canada. He also immigrated in about 1868, and was naturalized in 1889.

Robert and Mary are buried in the Kingston Cemetery in Kitsap County, Washington. The chain in front of their headstone caught my attention. I thought it might be symbolic of a seafaring man, but Robert was a farmer.
